Gallery W-9, Workhouse Arts Center, Lorton, VA
How often do we simply dwell in and enjoy the present moment? This collection of watercolor batik paintings on Kinwashi rice paper has been created in the spirit of that ever-present moment. Watercolr batik is a resist method using paint and melted wax.
A painting can be a focal point to help us pay attention to the now--to be fully present: for the artist when creating the piece, and for the viewer when encountering it. In this exhibit, I express the hope that those moments would reveal peace as our true nature, with the understanding that we individually possess our own unique perceptions.
"Nothing can bring you lasting peace, but you have it already if you just stop disturbing it."--Sri Swami Satchidananda
Gallery 9 is the home of the Arches Gallery Artists, formerly known as the Associate Artists at the Workhouse. I've moved on from the gallery in order to focus on writing and illustration. To find out what's going on with the Arches Gallery Artists, check out their FaceBook page:

Artists at the Workhouse, in collaboration with the National Cherry Blossom Festival, present a campus-wide exhibit inspired by the ephemeral nature of the Cherry Blossoms. Spanning six galleries, artists explore the symbolism behind the flower, to include transience and volatility in life and beauty.
"Art Feast" is now closed at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassass, VA. Feed your eyes, mind and soul with joy and inspiration at this group show presented by the Associate Artists of the Workhouse.
